For the second year running, 10 AS Level Spanish students have completed a six-week work placement at St Thomas CofE Primary School in Werneth. The students have spent their free periods delivering a number of presentations, songs, games and stories and supporting classroom teachers in Spanish. The presentations which had been previously prepared and supervised by their Spanish teacher covered a wide range of topics from teaching numbers, basic greetings, colours, clothes, animals and the weather.

All of the students really enjoyed their placement:

Ayeza Akthar: ‘I think that the primary school placement was a great opportunity for me to develop my confidence and also to show off my Spanish skills. It was fun working with the children as they were so enthusiastic!’

Muhammad Talha Kousar Iqbal was also delighted to have been offered this opportunity, ‘my experience in the primary school was really good. I felt really amazing working with the children they were all really friendly. I loved playing games with them and observing how teachers worked with them. In short, my experience was amazing’.

Rimsha Afzal Kausar agreed saying, ‘I really enjoyed teaching. If I have another opportunity to teach again I will definitely do it. It was interesting to teach a new language to the children because personally I think it is important to learn a language from a young age. When the children learned a new word, I was so excited to have helped them’.
