Megan Bruton – Saddleworth Life’s New Youth Writer
Saddleworth Life is a prestigious online news and events platform covering the local Saddleworth area. The digital publication covers features, articles, announcements and reviews in a positive light, striving to celebrate the good work its community of businesses, people and partners are doing.
Following her success at OSFC, Megan Bruton has secured the second new youth writer position for Saddleworth Life pursuing her love of writing and the area she grew up in. Megan, now a Year 13 OSFC leaver, was a gifted student achieving 3 A*s in English Literature, History, and Government & Politics at OSFC. Her teacher Richard Lee said ‘Megan enjoyed a spectacular 2 years at OSFC. I have rarely met a student with so much enthusiasm for her learning and who is so clearly dedicated to making the most of every opportunity presented to her. She was a fantastic member of the college community and gave back as much as she received. Oxford University will be lucky to have her’
Having been runner up in Rotary Student of the Year 2020 and securing a place at Oxford university to study English Literature, Megan has shown immense commitment to her personal learning and progression throughout her studies. As well as propelling her love of writing, Megan is excited to use the youth writer role to explore her passions for Saddleworth’s natural beauty and showcase her unique take on modern life as a young person from the area. In an interview with Saddleworth Life Editor Jude Gidney, Megan talked about her experiences being in her final year of A Levels and having her exams cancelled due to lockdown. Having an established platform to share her experiences of this difficult time and how she overcame it, is surely set to have a positive domino effect on others in and around Saddleworth.
We are extremely proud of Megan and wish her luck for her future with Saddleworth Life, university and beyond!
