The Stress of the Future and how to Potentially Mitigate it
By Rabnawaz Ahmad
The future is quite the disturbing thing to think about. I imagine a lot of you are thinking about going to University or getting into apprenticeships or just going straight into employment, I myself am likely going to University. But I imagine that like myself, a lot of you consider the future something terrifying to envision. We are getting older at a remarkable rate and before we know it, we will be at the end of our exams. And this pace can be quite unnerving, especially because many haven’t properly figured out what they want to do in life, myself included.
Everything just seems so daunting when I just want to live a calm and stable life. Current political events can be overwhelming, the state of the nation seemingly worsening by the day. With these worries and concerns, it is more important than ever to take some time out for yourself. Don’t get me wrong, it is important to focus on your studies, letting that fall by the wayside is not advisable, I should know. Just take some time off for yourselves, indulge in hobbies that you may not have time to enjoy otherwise. I know it is easier said than done but I can't really stress enough how you shouldn't bury yourself under your own stress. I’m still not sure what I want to do and honestly, I'm fine with it. I'm not saying that it is ideal but I've made peace with that and my mentality has never been better. I mean, in all honesty, at our age who really knows for sure what they want in life?! Ultimately, in doing the best I can at college I am trying to secure a brighter future for myself, offering me more opportunities in my life and career. That’s all any of us can do.
