Forensic Psychologist, Kerry Daynes, Returns to OSFC
On Tuesday 10 March, Oldham Sixth Form College was thrilled to welcome back forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes. Speaking to a packed lecture theatre of OSFC students alongside pupils from Hulme Grammar School and Crompton House, Kerry delivered a masterclass on the realities of her profession.
Tracing her career journey from its beginning, she provided a candid look at the challenges and rewards of working with both offenders and victims. Her talk went far beyond the surface, exploring the impact of psychopathy and the harrowing life of Charles Bronson. Crucially, she highlighted how trauma stunts cognitive development, often creating a direct path toward criminal behavior.
Kerry also introduced the powerful concept of "Logical Compassion," explaining how she maintains the ability to see the humanity in even the most notorious perpetrators. By the end of the session, she hadn't just demystified forensic psychology; she had challenged the next generation to step up and reform the justice system.
