What Will You Learn?
If you are a native speaker of Italian and maybe already have a GCSE Italian qualification, you should definitely consider studying A level Italian at OSFC. This course goes beyond grammar and vocabulary, offering a unique opportunity to learn about contemporary Italian society. You will improve your Italian linguistic skills with engaging lessons and learn about Italian culture, history, society, and traditions.
Modules
In your first year, topics studied will include changes in family structures, education, world of work, music, media and Italian cultural heritage.
In the second year, themes will include the impact of immigration on Italian society, North/South divide, the rise of Mussolini, Fascism in WW2, and the birth of democracy.

- Your speaking skills will also be enhanced with weekly one-to-one speaking sessions with your tutor.
- You will have the opportunity to analyse a novel and film in Italian and confidently write essays about them.
Where Will This Lead?
A qualification in a foreign language is an excellent asset for any career or university pathway. Increasingly, in our global society, employers and educational institutions are very keen to recruit those with an international aspect to their CV.
Previous students have gone on to study languages at universities across the world including Russell Group institutions. Linguists from OSFC have gone on to work in many sectors including the chemical industry, the Air Force, law, teaching, marketing, the Civil Service and in the media.
