University of Manchester Brings Science to Life
Visiting primary school children and their teachers enjoyed a ‘Solids, Liquids and Gases Show’ delivered by the University of Manchester’s Chemistry Department at OSFC on 17 October.
400 pupils attended the event where solids and liquids were turned in to gases, gases were turned in to liquids and lots of fun was had with balloons, bangs and bottle rockets along the way! All the children enjoyed the opportunity to experience Science in a way which wouldn’t normally be possible in school, extending their knowledge of this topic beyond what is usually covered in lessons.
The event was organised as part of our Primary Science Project which aims to work in partnership with local schools, promoting Science to young people and fostering enthusiasm for the subject from a young age.
The schools in attendance were; St George’s Primary School, Springbrook School, Westwood Primary School, Werneth Primary School, Lyndhurst Primary School, Whitegate End Primary School, Holy Family RC Primary School and Watersheddings Primary School.
