Travel and Tourism students raise £1052 for Mind
Travel and Tourism students have successfully raised £1052 for the charity, Mind, through a range of fundraising activities, including cake sales, raffles and games, and a trip to Knowsley Safari Park. The fundraising was part of a Travel and Tourism module, which requires students to plan, run, manage and then evaluate an event. The students chose to support Mind, as it is a charity close to one of the coordinator’s heart.
This week the students held their final event of the module, where they presented a cheque to Jenny Higson, the CEO of Mind in Tameside, Oldham and Glossop. Jenny said:
“We couldn’t do all our important work with young people if it wasn’t for the fundraising and support we receive. I’m very grateful for the students’ support and would like to thank them for all their effort.”
Peter Roberts, Deputy Principal at OSFC, said he was very proud of the students at the college.
“Travel and Tourism is one of our best performing courses, and its students are also our most active fundraisers across all college events. It’s fantastic how well they engage with the local community and support such worthwhile causes.”
