Members of the University of Huddersfield’s motorsport team, Team HARE (Huddersfield Automotive Racing Enterprises),visited OSFC on Friday 20 June to talk to students about what it’s like to be part of this real-life motorsport team and where a degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Electronic engineering might lead.
The talk was given by Dan Briggs, one of the most experienced Team HARE members, who was joined by some of the undergraduate students who work on the team.
Team HARE represents the University of Huddersfield in the worldwide Formula Student (FSAE) competition series. The team has been entering the competition since 1999 and pride themselves as one of the UK’s most established and professional teams. It consists of mechanical, automotive and electronic engineering students within the University’s computing and engineering department.
2013 saw the team’s greatest success to date. At Silverstone they completed all dynamic and static events which placed them 15th overall to become the Top UK team.
Each year Team HARE design, build and develop a single seat formula style race car for the Formula Student Competition. The vehicle competes in a series of static and dynamic events against other universities from across the globe.
