Students hear from Capita Translation and Interpreting about careers in Languages
Bonnie Sandall, Operations Manager at CAPITA TI, and Liam Hargreaves, Project Manager and former A level Spanish student, visited Oldham Sixth Form College on Tuesday 5 November to speak to Languages students about the range of careers available with a Language A Level or degree.
Bonnie and Liam gave an insightful talk on the importance of language learning and the various career paths within the organization and the language industry. The extremely informative workshop introduced the Language students to the skills and qualifications required to become Translators and Interpreters and also to non-translator roles within the industry, including Project Management, Marketing, Account Management, File Engineering, Bid Management and Vendor Management.
Bonnie Sandall said on the day, “It was a pleasure to meet the students today and explain to them the different roles available within the localisation industry. Capita TI is very proud of its relationship with Oldham Sixth Form College and looks forward to delivering the session in future years.”
Liam Hargreaves added: “It was great to show the students an insight into the localisation industry. I enjoyed coming back and seeing my old teachers as well”.
Grace Lear, an A Level Spanish student, said, ‘I found the talk very interesting and informative as it gave me an insight into a translating and interpreting career’.
Fellow student Diana Oiebamidji Kurochkin agreed: ‘I found it really useful to hear about the different sectors that you can work in if you have a linguistic qualification.’
