On Thursday 24th November, Katherine Halloways from The London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) visited Oldham Sixth Form College to award the highest achieving Financial Studies students a scholarship to study in London. This year 12 students achieved the top A or A* grades required to meet the criteria for a £500 scholarship.
Katherine Halloways personally congratulated students on their outstanding grades and presented them with their certificates. Katherine said, “It is important for young people to be educated in personal finance and money management as these are vital life skills. We have awarded the highest performing students in the UK with a scholarship to study with us and I am delighted that 12 OSFC students have received our scholarship this year. Even if these students don’t choose a career in finance, this scholarship and award will set them apart in interviews.”
Grigori Derkats, who achieved a fantastic A grade, said, “I think more people should be educated financially, and from a younger age; if more students were taught to manage their money it would set them up for the future. It has been great to be awarded a certificate and scholarship from the LIBF today, and it’s a nice way for our achievements to be recognised.” Grigori is currently doing an accountancy apprenticeship in Oldham.
OSFC would like to congratulate all our Financial Studies students on their fantastic achievements. If you would like to find out more about studying Financial Studies at OSFC, visit www.osfc.ac.uk/financial-studies.
