Staff and students at OSFC are celebrating superb A level results today. There were impressive increases on the strong results in recent years, with an A level pass rate of 99% and a 2% improvement in high grades. Similarly at AS level, both the pass rate and the high grades rates are up on previous years, which is particularly pleasing in the context of volatility and reform in several subjects. This had created uncertainty nationally and predictions of declining outcomes.
A brilliant 45 AS and A level subjects gained a perfect 100% pass rate, up on last year’s high figure. All students holding Oxbridge offers have secured their places at these prestigious universities, along with outstanding successes in terms of Medicine and Dentistry offers. There are, of course, many other superb outcomes in terms of both progression to Russell Group and a wide range of universities and to other excellent options including apprenticeships, gap years, Art Foundation courses and directly into employment.
In all, over 800 high grades were achieved at A level, a truly outstanding performance. Across both AS and A level, there were over 1700 top grades.
As has been the case for many years now, there was a superb 100% pass rate by students completing vocational subjects, with a wonderful 573 Distinction or Distinction* grades achieved, which are the equivalent of A grades. This represents a further substantial increase on last year’s excellent vocational results.
Jayne Clarke, OSFC Principal, said “I am incredibly proud of our students and their excellent achievements, which are a credit to their hard work and dedication. This year’s results were particularly uncertain given the changes to A level specifications, so we are thrilled to have increases across the board in terms of pass rates and high grades. Most importantly, our students leave us very well-placed for their next steps to university, apprenticeships and employment and I wish all students who are leaving us this year the very best of luck for their futures. A huge thank you is due to the wonderful staff at the college, who go above and beyond to support students throughout their time with us.”
