If you are unsatisfied with the results you have been awarded then you have the following options open to you.
Service 1 – A Clerical Re-Check – which ensures
- All parts of the scripts have been marked & the marks have been correctly totalled.
- The total mark for each unit has been correctly recorded in the computer system.
- The application, where appropriate, of any allowances e.g. from special consideration are correct.
Service 2 – A Remark – which ensures
- A clerical re-check as outlined above.
- A re-assessment of each externally assessed unit against the approved mark scheme by a senior examiner who will confirm or amend the original marks.
Priority Service 2
this service is offered for GCE and AEA units where a candidates place in further/higher education is dependent on the outcome of the enquiry about results. Deadline for this service is 22August 2014; historically the target for completion was within 18 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.
A REMARK CAN RESULT IN A LOWERING OF GRADES AS WELL AS AN INCREASE IN GRADES.
Access to Scripts
Students who wish their original script returned to them must call in to the exams office by the deadline date listed below.
- Photocopies of scripts for enquiry purposes will arrive in the centre no later than 10 September 2014
- Original scripts will arrive in the centre no later than 14 November 2014

The outcome of all enquiries will be confirmed in writing & fees will be refunded if the subject grade is raised.
CLERICAL CHECKS AND REMARKS MUST BE ORGANISED THROUGH THE EXAMS OFFICE.

23 November Earliest date that scripts can be altered or confidentially disposed of by centre staff/ student. If any amendment is made prior to this date and the boards request the original script back then the student is liable for malpractice penalties and could lose their grade.
Have until 20 September to request remarks and until 4 October to request original scripts. Costs will be distributed at same time as results
Results comparisons will be available to HOMA’s at the earliest opportunity.
Students who wish to apply for a remark have been advised to visit the exam office – immediately.
We will no longer be dissuading students from applying for a remark before seeing their scripts – this should lessen their tension and the additional strain put on tutors.
Copies of Scripts for Departmental Use
Photocopies of scripts can be ordered by tutors if there are any concerns about their cohort’s results. Alternatively original scripts can be ordered for teaching purposes, you must seek the students permission before ordering their script if you are using it for teaching purposes.
The paperwork to request photocopies has been emailed to all programme leaders.
