Dance Showcase Charity Fundraiser

OSFC Dance Showcase OSFC Dance Showcase

A2 and AS Level Dance students raised £516 for the Alzheimer's Society on 24th May, when they performed a Dance Showcase in the College's Large Lecture Theatre.

The Showcase, performed in front of an audience of friends, family and the general public, included a combination of student choreographies from their recent practical examinations and a selection of dances created during Enrichment and Extension activities. Every year the students are assessed on their choreographic and performance skills as part of their examinations, and spend a lot of time and effort preparing their dances and getting them ready for marking by the external moderator. Often this work goes unseen, so a performance such as this gives them the chance to demonstrate their hard work - and to raise funds for a good cause at the same time.

Sharon Bell, Head of Dance at the Sixth Form College, said "I'm sure everyone who attended was impressed by the hard work and commitment demonstrated by all our talented Dance students during this Showcase. They should be congratulated on their efforts – I'm very proud of them all."

The programme for the evening can be seen here.
