Successful Trip To Media City
Media Placements Enrichment GroupOur Year 13 Creative Media Placements Enrichment group recently enjoyed a visit to The Studio at Media City in Salford, where the sets for Blue Peter, cbbc, cbeebies, Dragon’s Den and Match of the day are located. During the trip the Group, all of whom are hoping to pursue a career in the Media, had the chance to look round facilities such as dubbing theatres, sound booths, ingest areas and edit suites.
The trip also included an interview for production work experience with a Senior Manager at the facility and two students – Callum Standring and Chelsey Lamb – were successful in securing a week long placement. This will give them the opportunity to work alongside professionals in these state-of the art studios and gain first-hand experience of ingest, editing, dubbing and studio management.
Head of Media Studies Fiona Douglas-Reeves, who accompanied the group on the trip, said “This kind of placement is invaluable for students who’re hoping for a career in this extremely competitive industry. The purpose of the Creative Media Placements Enrichment Group is to provide additional support and advice and help students secure highly-sought after experience such as this. I’m delighted two of the Group will be able to benefit from such an exciting opportunity and I hope this will be the first of many similar links with prestigious facilities such as this.”
