Former Student's Charity Fundraising
Former OSFC Student James HallworthSince leaving College in 2010, former OSFC student James Hallworth has spent a great deal of his time volunteering for charity, both at home and abroad (Slovakia, India and Thailand). As well as studying for his History Degree at Edge Hill University, James has been given the role of Project Co-Ordinator for a teaching programme run by the charity VESL (Volunteer Teaching English Overseas). The aim is to take a six person team to Thailand to teach English full time for six weeks.
James is responsible for promoting the campaign, helping fundraise for the trip and teaching cultural awareness and health risks to other volunteers. When in Thailand, he will assist in lessons and make sure everyone stays safe and happy so that the children they are teaching get as much benefit as possible.
For the trip to take place, £6000 has to be raised by Summer 2012. James says "I've already raised some of the funds needed but am now exploring every possible avenue to make sure we reach our target in time. Education for the less privileged is an excellent cause to support so I'm really hoping the trip will go ahead. Any help, no matter how small, would really be appreciated."
