Four students from Oldham Sixth Form College took first place in an Accounting Masterclass Day at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Manchester in December.

Price Waterhouse Coopers is one of the four top Accounting firms in the world and teams from colleges throughout Greater Manchester were keen to take part in this Gifted & Talented Masterclass.  The OSFC team –Madison Maguire, May-Lee Perrins, Dawn Wood and Sophie Johnson – had to complete various complex accounting tasks including fraud investigation, advising a company to move their operations abroad based on corporate tax benefits, and recovering a failing business.  They then had to present their findings to a group of attendees which included senior PWC staff.

Yahya Goga, Business Studies tutor at the College commented “Our students displayed enthusiasm, confidence, commitment and intelligence in all their tasks.  They scored full marks across the board and were congratulated on their efforts by various PWC staff.  They are a credit to the sixth form college and I’m sure they all have a very bright future ahead.”

Current OSFC Year 13 students Amber Lever, Andrew Tran, Emma Nicholls and Madina Bllaca also took first place in the 2010 Masterclass.
