Baroness Sharp of Guildford, a Liberal Democrat Member of the House of Lords, visited the Regional Science Centre Oldham as an exemplar of successful partnership working on Friday 7th October.  Her visit was part of an inquiry led by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) and chaired by the Baroness into the current work of colleges in their communities. An interim report has already been published with final report due in November.

Jayne Clarke, College Principal, said “We are delighted to welcome Baroness Sharp to the Science Centre.  Its success owes a great deal to the innovative partnership between the Sixth Form College and Oldham Council and we are already continuing this theme, successfully working with local primary and secondary schools to inspire the scientists of the future and prepare them for university and employment”.

During the visit, it is planned that Baroness Sharp will meet a range of partners who have played a role in securing the success of the Centre thus far.
