The Junior University Shortlisted for Beacon Award
The Junior UniversityThe highly successful Junior University initiative, based here at Oldham Sixth Form College, has been shortlisted for a prestigious AoC Beacon Award 2010/11 – in the College/School Partnerships category.
To help with their decision, two assessors visited the College between 9.00 and 13.00 on Wednesday 22nd September to talk to staff, students, JU mentors and representatives from the College’s partner groups.
The aim of the AoC Beacon Awards, launched in 1994, is to highlight the breadth and quality of education in colleges throughout the UK and increase understanding of their contribution to UK educational skills policy and economic and social development.
They recognise imaginative and exemplary teaching and learning practice in colleges,
draw attention to provision which encourages learners to approach challenges positively and creatively, and support learning and continuous improvement through the dissemination of Award bearing practice.
Winners will be announced in November.
