Eleven A2 Travel and Tourism students brought summer back to Oldham for one night on 3rd November when they hosted a “Benidorm Beach Party” at Hollinwood and Chadderton Garden Social Club.

This successful evening, which raised £902.50 for the NSPCC,  contributes to a unit in their A2 qualification where they have to plan, manage, run and evaluate an event. Those attending had a last chance to wear their summer clothes and the aim was to raise as much money as possible on the night by charging for tickets to enter the party and for taking part in activities such as face painting, a raffle,  competitions, coconut bowling, an auction, limbo dancing and a variety of party games.   They also enjoyed a pie supper, a chocolate fountain and decorations included lots of balloons, blow up palm trees and beach balls.

Karen Brown, Course Leader for Travel & Tourism at the College said  “I’m really proud of the students.  They did extremely well and deserve our congratulations for all their efforts both at the event and during all the preparations beforehand.  They were determined to make this event a success and worked really hard to raise such a lot of money for their chosen charity”.
