On Friday 13th February, OSFC opened its doors once more to welcome primary school pupils to take part in the LIFT Little Linguists Primary Languages Day. The 30 year 6 pupils from Roundthorn Primary Academy wowed French Tutor, Sarah Shaw, and the team of A Level French students with their knowledge, enthusiasm and determination.
“It was great to see how enthusiastic all the children were to learn a new language. It made teaching them really enjoyable as they were all so keen to get involved,”
says Alex Dobson, year 13 student at OSFC. Sahdia Khan, another year 13 student who took part in the day, was also impressed with the pupils.
“The children were very enthusiastic and passionate when it came to learning new French vocabulary. They enjoyed the day, and so did I!”
‘The Primary Languages Days could not take place without the support and commitment of our students. They are fantastic ambassadors for the College and for languages. The students are such positive role models and we hope that the pupils will be inspired to work hard and consider languages as a valuable route,’ says Sarah.
In September 2014, languages became a compulsory part of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. For more information about how OSFC can support the implementation and delivery of languages in primary schools, please email Sarah Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org
The LIFT Languages Roadshow is also back on the road and has already visited all year 9 pupils at Saddleworth School and Newman College. For more information about the roadshow, please email Sarah Shaw at email@example.com
