The topics discussed during the visit included the Role of an MP, Representation, Labour Policy on Voting Systems and the Legal Age of Voting, and Accountability and Campaigning. The students then had the chance to ask Debbie a range of questions.
Andrew Barker course leader for Citizenship said:
The students really enjoyed the opportunity to question Debbie about her role as an MP and current Labour policies. Her answers offered an insight into politics relevant to students not just for their exams but also as politically engaged individuals. Debbie also offered her support for the Drop the Learning Tax Campaign and the Citizenship students will be using her advice to further raise awareness of the campaign. We are grateful to Debbie for giving up her time to come into the college.
