Course Summary:

Express yourself on our Dance course. You’ll have the opportunity to perform regularly in lessons and college shows, produce your own choreographies and learn to work together with other performers. You’ll also improve your knowledge and understanding by critically examining the work of professionalcompanies and choreographers. Whilst there will be a concentration on contemporary dance, you will also have the opportunity to study a range of other dance styles. You will have the chance to hear from external speakers and take part inenrichment activities to enhance your learning.

Higher Education Destinations:

  • Several of our recent students have successfully gained places at leading dance institutions such as Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music Northern School of Contemporary Dance

  • The University of Birmingham- Drama and English
  • The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama – Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre

Entry Requirements:

A Grade 4 or above in English Language is essential. Experience in dance is desirable and you must pass an internal taster session.

Assessment Method:

50% exam 50% coursework

“I decided to study Dance because I wanted to develop my knowledge further after achieving both a BTEC and GCSE qualification in the subject at Crompton House School. I have been passionate about dance and the art of choreography from an early age and welcomed the opportunity to develop my skills even further through studying the subject at A Level. The lessons are varied and enjoyable and we learn about all aspects relating to Dance. The course has helped me to develop an appreciation of a variety of professional dance works, develop my composition skills and learn about different dance genres and techniques. I plan to carry on studying Dance at university to ultimately reach my goal of working in the dance profession. The tutors on the course are very helpful and are always happy to give up their time to offer extra help and support if necessary in order for you to reach your full potential.”
