Entry Requirements:
A grade C or above in English is essential as the course does involve quite a bit of report writing. Previous experience of ICT/Computing is not essential, but a general understanding of the use of packages like Word and the Internet would be beneficial.

You make use of a wide range of state of the art software packages for topics as wide as graphics, website design, spreadsheets and databases.

Course Content:

Year One

U2 Computer Systems : Investigate the hardware and software components of computer systems and carry out routine computer maintenance.

U6. Advanced Spreadsheet Skills : Learn about spreadsheets and use them to solve complex problems.

U21 Website Production and Management : Design and create an interactive website and look at what influences website designs.

Year Two

U1 Communication and Employability Skills for ICT : What are employers looking for in their employees, how do people communicate using ICT.

U5 Advanced Database Skills : Learn about databases and use Access to create relational database solutions.

U26 Computer Animation : Investigate the origins and types of animation and then create your own animations on the computer.

Special features of the course:

This is a TWO year course and all the units covered are of the same level. The course is the equivalent of one A level, with students being graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Assessment:
All units are assessed through a mixture of coursework and assignments.

The course is an excellent stepping stone into the world of ICT, whether it be through University or the job market.
