Businesses are all around us; we all know and can recognise them instantly. Brands like Coca Cola, Cadbury and McDonalds are sold on every high street, in every city, every day across the country. But how do businesses like these work? BTEC Business Level 3 Diploma teaches you how business operates. One day you will be learning about accounting: where accuracy and number skills are paramount to analyse cash flow, costs and profit. The next day you could be measuring how creativity ensures a product will sell. Our course is incredibly varied and covers the essential skills, such as communication and leadership, which you will need to one day manage or lead a business yourself.

Entry Requirements:

Four subjects at grade D. You must have at least a D in GCSE English Language and at least an E in GCSE Maths.

Ideas for Progression:

The BTEC Diploma in Business prepares students well for further study at university, following degree programmes in Business related areas, such as business management, accounting and marketing. tourism and financial services. Employment opportunities are also vast, such as banking, advertising, human resources, retail and accounting.

Trips and Events:

Students take part in a number of different trips and activities to support and develop their understanding of business concepts.

This year students have visited Alton Towers, Cadbury World, Jaguar and The Curry Lounge. Students also have the opportunity to go on the Barcelona residential which takes part every year.

These trips and visits are a valuable part of the course, giving students a real insight into how actual businesses work.

Business Conference:

Students will also have the chance to take part in an annual Business Conference, held here at the Sixth Form College.

This highly successful conference has been running for 15 years and representatives from some of the most important global and national companies have taken the opportunity to talk to our students, inspiring them to become the entrepreneurs of the future.
