As part of our Celebrating Diversity activities, students and staff were invited to take part in a Charity Fast Challenge on Wednesday 25 June in support of a local food bank. The idea was to get a flavour of Ramadan by fasting between 9.00am and 3.00pm and then coming together to break the fast in College. As well as a crate of tinned food, £158.91 was raised on the day in support of the charity.
Organiser Salim Rahman, a Sociology Tutor at OSFC said
“This is the first time we’ve organised a Fast Day of this kind and it proved to be very successful, with lots of donations being provided for the food bank. There is always a very positive multi-cultural atmosphere around the College and events like this are a useful way of helping students understand and appreciate the diversity around them, while providing help for a good cause at the same time.”
