New York Times bestselling American author, Becca Fitzpatrick, visited Oldham Sixth Form College on Wednesday 19th November. She gave a short talk about her new book Black Ice to interested students and staff, and followed it with a Q&A session as well as book signings. The College also took this opportunity to launch the Six Book Challenge and introduced Becca to the delights of an English afternoon tea party, which raised money for the Wallace & Gromit charity for sick children.
After her visit Becca said: “I had a lovely time visiting the students at OSFC – they were so engaged and asked wonderful writing-related questions. I wish them the best of luck in their endeavors and hope to visit the college again in the future.”
Liz Binks, Becca’s publicist at Simon & Schuster, commented “Becca’s been to a LOT of schools but this is by far the best event we’ve done. Thank you for making us so welcome – your students are wonderful.”
Principal Jayne Clarke said: “We were thrilled and very grateful that Becca took the time to come to Oldham Sixth Form College as part of her very busy visit to the UK. There was standing room only during her talk, which was truly inspiring, in addition to being highly interesting and entertaining. Our students really enjoyed the opportunity to meet such a successful and popular author and hear about her experiences first hand, along with the great Q&A and signing session afterwards.”
