New Parent Governor – Ballot
The College’s Governing Body (the Corporation) is currently made up of 19 Governors, two of whom are elected by parents and there is a position now vacant (for a two-year period of office). The Governors’ work touches most aspects of the College. They establish, with myself and the senior team, the strategic aims and vision for the College, and are responsible for approving the College’s financial plan. More generally, they are expected to be in touch with the local community and to help guide the College to meet the community’s educational needs. The election process is open to any parent who has a child currently registered at the College. We have had two nominations submitted, and therefore a ballot will take place. The election process is open to any parent who has a child currently registered at the College. The term ‘parent’ is taken to include a guardian or anyone who has parental responsibility for a student at OSFC.Your vote is very important to us, and should you require more information please contact Mrs Jan Jones, by email on firstname.lastname@example.org. Votes must be cast by the deadline which is midday on Monday 24th October 2016.A brief statement for each candidate is provided for your consideration. I would be grateful if you would cast your vote by 4pm on Mondaythe 24th October, at which time the votes will be counted, and I will be able to announce the name of the elected Governor. This will be displayed at the College for at least seven days, and will be included in the Principal’s Parent Letter, and feature on the Governance section of the website.Thank you taking time to vote!Mrs Jan JonesClerk to the Corporation
I have a business in failsworth oldham dealing with people of all gender and race, i was a liaison officer for the local council for number off years, and most off all i am a governor of freehold academy school and been there for over 10 years,I like challenges, and given the chance i kno i can bring new experience and the needs off our young men and women in sixth form,As a liaison officer one of my rolls were working with youths and local community centers. so i think with my experience as a governor and business man, i think i have what take to be a successful candidate.
I am currently a parent to one of the Year 12 students and am also a former student of Oldham Sixth Form College. I currently work for Bupa as an Assistant Accountant and am a driven and committed individual who would welcome the opportunity to be able to contribute to enhancing the standards and experience OSFC offers students, parents and staff. I am also studying CIMA to become a qualified management accountant and so can offer relevant experience as both a parent and a student. The role of parent governor is to remain impartial but yet representative of the parental viewpoint which is what I believe I can fulfil with my candid and yet compassionate personality.
