Bake Sale Helps Jordan Travel to Uganda
On Friday 4 November staff at Oldham Sixth Form baked and ate copious amounts of cake to help raise money for former student Jordan Strong’s International Citizenship Service (ICS) trip to Uganda.Jordan heads to Uganda in January for 12 weeks and will be working with Ugandan youths to help increase their employment prospects and increase their awareness of sexual health. Jordan said, “I am so thankful to the college for their support when I was a student and particularly for helping me raise funds for my ICS project. I have a couple more fundraisers coming up next week as I’m running up Snowdon in the snow and may even be waxing my legs!”Principal Jayne Clarke said, “We were really pleased to support Jordan’s fund-raising efforts through one of our staff cake days. Both through his work with the NCS, with which many of our students are involved and his forthcoming trip to Uganda with the ICS, Jordan is making a difference to young people’s lives. It’s great to be able to support a former student in such good work. Jordan is also keen to give back to the college by talking to current students about his experiences, so we’ll look forward to seeing more of him in the future.”All the staff at OSFC would like to wish Jordan the best of luck in Uganda!
