Jim Temple, Library Services Manager at Aquinas College and local member of the COLRIC committee, presents the award to the OSFC team. Our Learning Resource Centre – The Know – has just been awarded joint third place in the first CoLRiC (Council for Learning Resources in Colleges) Best Practice Awards. The judges were particularly impressed by OSFC’s entry – entitled ‘Who wants to win a USB Pen? The Know induction at Oldham Sixth Form College’ – because staff had taken an idea they had seen elsewhere, built on it and advanced it to come up with a model that can evolve year on year. They also highlighted the good use of technology, with mobile devices and voting systems being used for the first time this year, and the high level of co – operation between staff which makes the Induction such a success.Corinne Walker, Learning Resources Manager, said

“We’re very proud of the learning resources that The Know provides for all OSFC students and are delighted to have received this award from COLRIC in recognition of our best practice. However we believe there is always room for improvement and at present our facilities are undergoing major refurbishment which will mean we can offer an even better service to students in the future.”
