Author and former Principal Nick Brown came back to College to judge the entries in this year’s short story competition and read an extract from his forthcoming new novel The Wooden Walls of Thermopylae to an audience of students and staff.
For the first time in 2014 we have run this popular event in conjunction with a national competition http://www.firststory.org.uk/ . Students were asked to create a short story or poem of no more than 850 words on the theme ‘Home- what does it mean to you?’ with the winning entry being entered in the national competition.
There were some very strong contenders but after some deliberation the winners were chosen, with Nick announcing the results. They were:
1st place Lucy Hilton
2nd place Kieron Vanderkamp
3rd place Zain Atiq
The short listed entries will be compiled into a booklet on display in The Know as in previous years for all students to read and be inspired by.
